A feat only a true Dovahkiin could pull off.
Skyrim Anniversary Edition has only been in the hands of the public for a few days, but that hasn't stopped one daring adventurer from completing the game only using the newly introduced fishing rod. Redditor TheFogFrog uploaded an image of themselves to Reddit which pictured main antagonist Alduin dead and the player stood over his corpse with a fishing tod in each hand.
For those that aren't aware, Skyrim Anniversary Edition recently added a new fishing mini-game allowing players to catch a range of fish to use for cooking. Skyrim players quickly discovered the fishing rods could be wielded like standard swords, and even scale with the one-handed weapon skill tree. The rods don't do much damage, but that didn't stop TheFogFrog from trying to beat the game with them.
Thankfully, TheFogFrog also shared a video of their fishing rod playthrough from their YouTube channel which you can watch here. To start the video, TheFogFrog lays out some basic ground rules for themselves for added challenge. Damage can only be dealt with the fishing rod but poisons can be applied for extra damage, and shouts must only be used for story progression. They also allow themselves to have a companion for the entire journey.
What follows can only be described as an incredibly stubborn yet impressive attempt to beat the worse enemies Skyrim has to offer with just a couple of pieces of wood. Two notable stumbling blocks in the playthrough were the dreaded frost troll up near High Hrothgar and Tsun in Sovngarde who had to be defeated with the help of paralysis poisons.
With nothing else in the way, TheFogFrog ruthlessly cuts down Alduin with their trusty fishing rods and cements themselves as the best fisherman in all of Skyrim. Simply attempting a fishing rod-only run in Skyrim is worthy of praise, but actually beating the game while doing so is definitely an accomplishment that only a true Dovakhiin could pull off.
